SUMMARY:More Than a Backpack Drive
DESCRIPTION:For many children in foster care\, a backpack is more than a school supply. It is something stable in the middle of uncertainty. That’s why our local mission partner\, Kids to Love\, created the More Than a Backpack program. \nMany children entering foster care carrying their belongings in trash bags or with very few personal items. A new backpack filled with school supplies gives them the dignity and confidence to start the school year prepared. \nLast year alone\, Kids to Love provided 5\,826 backpacks to children across Alabama\, Tennessee\, and Mississippi. Cove Church is joining that effort by collecting new backpacks filled with supplies July 12-26. \nBackpacks can be dropped off on Sunday mornings in the Worship Center lobby or during the week in the business office\, Monday-Thursday\, from 8am-4pm. Suggested school supplies: three-ring binders\, pocket folders\, one-subject notebooks\, filler paper\, colored pencils\, markers\, scientific calculators\, erasers\, ink pens\, scissors\, crayons. \nA simple backpack may not seem like much\, but for a child in foster care\, it can mean everything.

DESCRIPTION:Easter is a special time to worship together\, and this year\, Cove Worship is forming an on-stage choir. We’d love for you to be part of it! \nThis experience is open to rising 6th graders through adults of all ages. No auditions are required. If you love to sing or worship through music\, this is a great way to get involved. \nRehearsals will take place on Thursdays from February 19 through March 26\, from 6:30-8:30pm\, with a dress rehearsal on March 26. SUMMARY:Light Up the Cove: Community Tree Lighting
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a Cove tradition that brings our whole community together. We’ll gather on the front lawn to light the beautiful tree and welcome the Christmas season. \nKids Cove children (preschool-5th grade) will kick off the evening with Hark! The Herald Angels Sing. Enjoy hot chocolate\, cookies and a Christmas story told by a storyteller. Kids can also take part in an activity that reminds us why we celebrate Christmas. \nThe tree lighting will take place at 5pm. It’s always a special moment that fills the night with joy and wonder. \nEveryone in the community is invited!
